Our new program enables anyone aged 9 and up (7 year old and up if with an adult participant booking in same program) to experience and learn about our farm animals, as well as gaining horsemanship skills.

What they are learning and doing:

Feeding alpacas, llama, goats, sheep and horses

o  Mixing food for animals – putting hard feeds
together

o  Learning about supplements, needs for the different
animals

o  Safety and animal health requirements

Cleaning out animal shelter

o  Learning about animal cleanliness and safety

o  How to clean stall areas

Brushing the goats

o  How to groom goats

Goat obstacle course

o  Set up an obstacle course for the goats, and
lead the goats around the course

o  Learning how to lead goats on a halter

Walking the alpacas and llama

o  How to lead alpacas/llama on a halter

o  Learning how to read a flight creatures body
language and respond accordingly

Sheep and donkeys

o  Herd the sheep and donkeys to their paddocks

o  How to contain sheep but to herd them to where
they need to go

Hooking on session

o  How to demonstrate leadership to a horse – activities
to enable this to happen

o  When the horse accepts you as a leader, it will
follow you around

Horse ground work

o  Learning to groom

o  Wash horses (day dependent)

o  Horse riding (this will be done appropriate to
age and horse experience)

Interaction with small animals

o  Experience with guinea pigs, rabbits, chooks and
chicks

o  Possible washing and feeding (time dependent)

This program runs daily Monday - Friday throughout the school holidays. Please note that we require a minimum of 2 participants on each day to make it possible to run. If we do not reach the minimum and you have booked in, we will let you know and organise to reschedule.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We have a maximum of 5 people per day, but please contact us if you have a larger group wanting to book this experience.
